I really genuinely like this site and it's original layout and premise. I like custom themes. I like mobile themes. I like how posting works. I like how tag search works. I like sending and receiving asks. I like how you can make your blog whatever the hell you want. I like this fucking platform and for some reason staff is vigorously sawing their limbs off like they have to but they're in the middle of a grocery store and everyone there is going "why the hell are you doing that?" and staff cries "you all want me to"

It's been 12 days since I practiced. I was out all last weekend for pride and wedding events (my friend's brother) and last week I had no energy and an appointment.

Time to play some long tones.

You are not alone. I am was a flute major and honestly, it has taken me until the past year (from 2019) to be consistent with my practice and hey, I'm just getting back into again after letting it slip. Today I just did long tones, scales in an "easy" key, and a little bit of an etude. A few years ago, I was just playing a few pop tunes.

Start with something. Anything. Gradually add the technique back in, and I mean gradually! Jumping back in with all the scales right away will lead to burnout again! Start with one, an easy one. Then add more as you're comfortable. I had to build my practice routine up from scratch after grad and now I've got just about all my scales memorized, better than I had in school.

Honestly, the hardest part is moving past the starting point. Play the "easy" music. And then move forward with no expectations. It will come back. But you have to put in the work and balance that against burning out again.

Fully this! I went from barely practicing to getting a 317 day practice streak by prioritising fun, and setting a very gentle low bar for the first one- two months

That being said! Take breaks & days off!!! I had to break my streak because of nerve damage in my hands/wrists/arms/neck from practicing while tense & stressed. So yeah, a bit of time off is good for you hahaaaaa
